Test fishing has begun.  Nets will be in the water 8/16 @ 8pm – 8/17 @ 8am.  Other test dates will be as needed, until fishing officially starts Sept 10th.

I will try to update when I know actual fishing dates, but based on last years fishing schedule, and agreed upon dates for this year, expect nets in the water starting Sept 10, 2023, thru possibly the end of the year:  

• Starting wk 37 (wb 9/10) up to the Boeing Street bridge. Starting on wk 38 (wb 9/17) the fishery will open up to the Hwy 99 Bridge. Fishing pattern will be Sunday thru Friday.  Times are not provided, but expect in 8am on Sundays, out by noon on Fridays.
• Wk 43 (wb 10/22) – Wk 49 (wb 12/3) with the fishing pattern Sunday thru Saturday.  Times are not provided, but expect in 8am on Sundays, out by noon on Saturdays.

Note from Brad Cole (2022):  Tribal fishing has begun. While they haven’t yet started their 5 day fishing weeks I encourage everyone to check their dock lines and secure your boat better than you usually do. A couple extra fenders and spring lines on your boat are very helpful when they are running up and down the river. If you plan to use your boat during these months I recommend calling the tribal fishing hotline before you go: 1-800-347-4669. Navigating the river is usually doable when they are out but it is extremely difficult. I recommend that if they’re fishing and you have a trip planned that you come and go when they are not fishing. For clarification, if the hotline says the river is closed that means they can not fish at that time, it does not mean it is closed to the public and us.

[Ed Note:  I would like to say that last year the middle of the channel was clear the one time we had to navigate the Duwamish on a fishing day.  We were impressed and would like to know if you experienced the same or different conditions, and what you experience this year].

2023 Duwamish Fishing Net Schedule: Sandy Smith found this Link to the 2022 fishing schedules – Specifically, see Pages 30-31. It appears that fishing can start Week 37, week beginning 9/4/2022 (note: test run 8/10-11), and can extend thru Week 50 (12/4-9/2022), “with fishing pattern of Sun – Fri”.   There are no times specified, and it appears that Saturday is the only day of the week the waterway is clear. It also appears that the schedule can be changed if all parties agree. You can also check with the Fisheries Hotline, 800-347-4669, at any time.
